FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK Hello everyone, For this month's message, I'd like to shine a spotlight on one of the Chiang Mai Expats Club's longest-standing and most valued supporters: The Duke's. Many of our members know The Duke's as one of Chiang Mai's premier Western-style restaurants, but our relationship with owner David Anichowski goes far beyond simply being a venue for club events. Over the years, David has
been a true friend of the Club, supporting us through good times and challenging ones alike. In particular, during the difficult years following COVID, when many organizations were struggling to regain their footing, David continued to work with us and help us find ways to bring our community together. One of the best examples of that partnership is our monthly Saturday Breakfast at The Duke's. Working closely with the club, David largely developed the format that has become
perhaps our most popular event. It's much more than just a meal. It is an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, welcome new members, share stories, and strengthen the sense of community that makes our club special. What many people may not realize is that the breakfast buffet served at these events is not simply drawn from The Duke's regular menu. In fact, the buffet is created specifically for our gathering. Every dish is prepared expressly us, making
it a unique dining experience you won't find on any regular visit to the restaurant. Anyone who has attended in the past can tell you that the selection is extensive, the quality is outstanding, and the value is exceptional…and that’s putting it mildly. The next breakfast falls on July 4th, making it an especially fitting occasion to get together. While Independence Day is an American holiday, our club proudly includes members from many countries. The event provides a
wonderful opportunity for all of us, regardless of where we come from, to enjoy a festive morning together, and while David's American roots certainly influence some of the flavors and traditions that make The Duke's so popular, the warm hospitality, great service, and excellent food appeal to people from all nationalities. I encourage you to join us on July 4th, enjoy an outstanding breakfast, spend time with friends, and help us show our appreciation to David and The
Duke's for their many years of support. Few sponsors have done more for our club, and this is one small way we can say thank you. Before closing, I'd also like to remind everyone about our next Expat Connection meeting on July 25 at the Duangtawan Hotel. Our featured speaker will be from McKean Senior Center, another valued club sponsor and one of Chiang Mai's most respected providers of senior care services. The topic will be adult care in Chiang Mai, an issue that many of us
eventually face either for ourselves, a spouse, or a loved one. McKean's team has decades of experience helping seniors navigate what can be a challenging stage of life, and the information they share is certain to be both practical and invaluable. The morning begins with our traditional Social Hour at 9:45 a.m. Of course, longtime attendees know our "Social Hour" is one of the great misnomers of the English language, since ours actually only lasts 45 minutes. Nevertheless, it
remains a wonderful opportunity to chat with our sponsors, catch up with friends, meet new people, and enjoy a cup of coffee and tasty snacks before the meeting begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. I hope to see many of you there.
