FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Hello everyone, One of the strengths of our club has always been the willingness of members to share ideas, experiences, perspectives, and the occasional criticism. In that spirit, we’re introducing a new feature to our Expat Connection meetings: an Open Forum. I mentioned this is my message last week, and I’d like to expand on it a bit. This portion of the meeting is designed to
give everyone in attendance a voice. Members are invited to ask questions—whether directed to the Board or to the group at large—or to speak briefly on any topic of interest. It’s an opportunity to raise suggestions, offer constructive criticism, share announcements, or simply bring forward something you believe others may find useful or engaging. To keep the forum productive and inclusive, I’m asking that each speaker keep their questions or comments brief, and limit their
remarks to a couple of minutes, max. This will help ensure that as many people as possible have the chance to participate, while also allowing time for brief discussion where appropriate. As with all club activities, we will maintain a respectful and welcoming environment. The only off-limit topics are politics and religion, they will not be part of this forum. This idea is inspired by a similar format used successfully by the Expat Club in Pattaya. Their experience suggests
that giving members a structured but open opportunity to speak can lead to lively discussions, valuable insights, and a stronger sense of community and engagement. I’m optimistic that it will bring the same benefits to our group here in Chiang Mai. The Open Forum is, at its core, about participation. It reflects the idea that the club is not just something you attend, but something you help shape. I encourage you to come prepared with a thought, a question, or an idea—and to
be part of the conversation. On a totally different subject, The Duke’s has a special treat for anyone who enjoys the bacon at our Saturday Breakfasts. Come to think of it, that’s probably pretty much all of us. They are making their bacon available for purchase for a limited time at the Saturday Breakfast, and at a great price. It’s not just any bacon, it’s the same bacon The Duke’s uses, sliced to the same special thickness. It’s your job to cook
it, is your mouth watering yet? The price is only 250 baht per half-kilo, come to the next Breakfast on June 6th and stock up! Finally, remember that our next Expat Connection is the 23rd of this month, see below for more details and to purchase your tickets. It should be a lively and informative morning, I hope you can join us. As always, thanks for your support, and please be safe. -Kent
NEXT EXPAT CONNECTION - MAY 23
In addition to adding an Open Forum, we will have guests from one of our long-time sponsors, Boston Health Clinic, to educate and enlighten us on a fascinating subject we've probably all heard of but likely know very little about, stem cell therapy, and particularly how it relates to seniors. We'll also have a couple of shorter
presentations by a couple of our newest sponsors, Thai Road Assist and Serene Senior Care, to give them a chance to introduce themselves and explain the services they offer. We'll also have a bit of club news to round out the program, so we hope you'll come enjoy the morning with us.
