FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
Hello Everyone,
It's been an interesting couple of weeks, with progress on a lot of fronts.
First though, I screwed up. In the last newsletter I mistakenly put the date for our next Expat Connection meeting as October 25, forgetting we were now on a bi-monthly schedule.
The really sad thing is the bi-monthly schedule was my idea in the first place (yes, blame me)! Anyway, the next one will actually be November 22, sorry for any confusion.
In club news, we made progress on making the banking transition, then we backslid a bit before regrouping and regaining some momentum. What that means is we've given up on opening our new accounts at Kasikorn Bank and have turned instead to Bangkok Bank. The required documents have
been submitted and are being reviewed in Bangkok as we speak, we should have an answer in a few days. If I've learned one thing working with the banks here, it's take nothing for granted. I'm not going to be surprised if there aren't a few more hurdles to overcome, but we'll keep working on it and with any luck things will be all ironed out soon.
In other news, we are just days away (maybe even yet this week) of sending our our list of things we need help with, all
re-packaged in small pieces so they can be done in very little time. We'll be sending it out in a special edition newsletter, keep an eye out!
Also, we got our first peek at the new website last week, it looks terrific. The mechanics are pretty much finished, it just needs a bit of fleshing out and it will be ready to go. The project is being led by Ian Hibbert, who has put an enormous amount of time and effort into it. We'll be sure to introduce him to
those of you who don't know him, he deserves our heartfelt thanks.
Finally, a couple of members have stepped up and are interested in organizing two of our larger, more popular events, the Christmas Party and the Annual Picnic. We're in the process of evaluating both events to see if we can support them, and your input would be very helpful. If you have a minute please email us at info@chiangmaiexpatsclub.com and let us know your thoughts, the more feedback we get, the better.
