From the President's Desk

The Club is developing very fast and we have a number of regular events taking place. Come and support the work that the Club helpers are undertaking to delight and entertain you.

On Monday, I represented the Club at a meeting with the British Ambassador and the British Honary Consul in Chiang Mai where I also met many of our British Club members. It was great to see them there.

And on Tuesday, what a pleasure it was to have so many of our friends from Chiang Mai Rotary International join us at the meet up at the Wine Connection.

We can all help to strenghten these connections.

Following our circulating the Club's Revised Constitution last week, we have had a number of emails questioning various aspects of the Constitution. This is now closed for further comment. I will address this and other aspects of the Club's future development at The Expat Connection meeting on the 24th May before a vote is taken.

ONLY THOSE MEMBERS WHO BRING THEIR MEMBERSHIP CARDS ON SATURDAY WILL BE ALLOWED TO VOTE.

With 33 years of experience calling Thailand home, Suman C. Tharan is not only a seasoned expatriate but also comes from the world of stage and film. It is only in the past two years that Suman has taken us on a new, melodic adventure—singing! Interestingly, Suman has found that the timeless classics of icons like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin resonate deeply with the cherished memories of Chiang Mai’s older community.

Amandine Lecesne "“Saving Strays: Life and Challenges of Street Dogs in Thailand”. She will give an overview of the street dog issue in Thailand, the scale of the problem, and what Hand to Paw and other organizations in Chiang Mai are doing to help.

She is a dedicated animal advocate in Chiang Mai, Thailand, helping improve the lives of street dogs since 2005. She co-founded Care for Dogs in 2006 and now heads up Hand to Paw with a key focus on mass spaying, vaccinating, and rescuing street and roaming dogs. In a calendar year, Hand to Paw currently helps over 5,000 animals in our community.

Amandine’s passion is passing on knowledge and helping show how easy it is to help animals in our community.

The Wine Connection restaurant at Central Festival - they host us for free. They have easy parking, a great selection of food and drinks for members to buy, and a separate area we can use. This is scheduled to be a regular event every Tuesday between 17:00 and 20:00 (note: new start time to fit the alcohol drinkers!). We have arranged for a host/ess to be present each time to get people mingling.

Please plan to join us!  No reservations!  No fees! Just come and socialize with your fellow expats in a delightful venue.
