Here in Chiang Mai, summer is winding down, which means the rainy season is upon us. That’s not such a bad thing, rain means cooler temperatures and that’s a good thing. The rain doesn’t really stop anybody unless, of course, it’s torrential, which can definitely screw up any outdoor plans. Otherwise you just put on a rain slicker and go about your business as usual…and
smile.
If you haven’t had a chance yet, you might want to visit our website. The updated version went live a week or so ago, and there’s lots to see. Rick Hahn and his committee did a great job, and they’re already working on the next step in a multi-step plan which, once are the elements are in place, will culminate in a totally new design. The first revisions focused on two critical areas, our sponsors and our resource
guide, giving both a bit of a facelift and significantly expanded information. Also included was a new payment system for memberships and in-site purchases, capable of accepting payments in six of the world’s most common currencies. It’s now truly a global resource and something we can all be proud to be a part of.
On a totally different note, this coming Saturday, Sept 7, is the monthly Saturday Breakfast at The Duke’s, which
has been and continues to be the absolute best breakfast/buffet in the city, and for an incredibly low price as well. With a reservation the cost is only 345 baht, 245 for kids 12 and under. The event usually sells out but you can come at your own risk without a reservation, however the price will be 100 baht higher. See below to make reservations.
Got your flu shot yet? If not, sign up for our joint event with
Bangkok Hospital on Sept 24. The price is only 650 per shot, and shuttle service to and from the Bangkok Hospital Saraphi Clinic is available. More info is below, but don’t wait…tickets MUST be purchased by Sept 17.
September 28 is our General Meeting at the Duangtawan Hotel. Some time ago we had a guest speaker talk to us about insomnia, and in the lively Q&A that followed it became obvious that a LOT of us had a
variety of sleep disorders. Our guest speaker this month is an highly regarded sleep doctor, who currently counts a number of our members as clients, and gets rave reviews. If you have, or think you have a sleep disorder, or just want to know more about sleep and it’s connection to our overall health, you don’t want to miss this!
Finally, it’s time to start talking about our annual club picnic. The date has been set, Nov
2, and once again we will be at the spectacular Horizon Village Resort. Those who have been there know how gorgeous the resort is, and those who will be experiencing it for the first time are in for a real treat. There’s something for everyone to do, including the kids, including the popular giant hot air balloon (laying on its side) for the kids to play in, provided by the Chiang Mai Rotary Club, who will also conduct their always entertaining Golf Ball Drop, offering a chance to
anyone who buys a ball to win a cash prize. I’ll expand more on that in a later message.
That’s it for this week, I hope all is well, and please be safe.

Weekly Survey - repeat
Prior to Covid we used to have a book exchange at our General Meetings. It was simple, you found a book you liked, took it home and read it, and then returned it. This week's survey is about whether or not to bring back this popular program. It's just two quick questions, please take a minute and give us your opinion. Thanks!
We have 2 guest speakers this month, our own Rick Hahn and Dr. Niratchada Sap-Anan, from Bangkok Hospital.
Rick is on the board of the CEC. He heads up the Media Committee and also spearheaded the Prepare for End of Life in Thailand
program. Prior to retirement, Rick was a tech CEO who managed in companies ranging from start-ups to $1 billion in revenue; software to manufacturing; and in disciplines from Sales and Marketing to Finance and International. Our education learning series continues with Rick speaking about one of his favorite new toys…“3 Simple Ways To Make Your Life Easier With AI”.
Dr. Niratchada Sap-Anan, is a Sleep Medicine and Neurology
specialist at Bangkok Hospital. Many of you may recall a previous speaker who talked to us about insomnia, and the resulting vigorous Q&A that followed led us to believe there was great interest in sleep issues and disorders. That led us to Bangkok Hospital and Dr. Niratchada, whom many of our members already know and trust, who will speak about the critical and often misunderstood subject of sleep.

Testimonial
The AITax Advisers were knowledgeable about the unique challenges and requirements for expats, and they helped me navigate the complexities of filing my taxes from abroad. They were also able to identify deductions and credits that I wasn't aware of, which ended up significantly reducing my tax bill.
Overall, the process was much smoother than I anticipated, and
I feel confident that my taxes were filed accurately and in compliance with all US tax laws. I will definitely be using this service again in the future and recommending it to other expats in my network.
