Well, we’re making progress with this newsletter. Yours truly is not an expert with this type of thing, so I’m learning the hard way. The sponsor ads are back in, as are the member contributions, but as you can see there’s still some work to do to get the alignments correct. Also, the list of quick links you normally see at the very top is still missing, I hope to
have that figured out for next week’s edition.
Be sure to read the program information below for the General Meeting this Saturday, I think we’re in for a really enjoyable and enlightening morning. There’s one surprise I know about, but I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet. I can tell you it should be both interesting and impressive…great reasons to come find out what I’m talking
about!
Also below are the long awaited Flu shot promotion details. This one was a challenge, particularly once the government got involved. Government here is no different than anywhere else, whenever they get their hands on something it can get complicated and confusing, and this was no exception. The folks at Bangkok Hospital refused to give up though, and they’ve finally put all of the pieces of the puzzle
together. They even ran me through the entire process, including getting my shot, and I have nothing but good things to say. And my arm didn’t fall off or even hurt afterward!
That’s it, I hope all is well, and please be safe.
This month’s meeting offers a couple of intriguing speakers, educating us and enlightening us about a couple of topics most of us probably have an interest in.
Doug Mann is a Chiang Mai resident, having escaped the corporate world after a 35 year
career as a systems specialist in Japan and Germany. One of his current activities is running the Chiang Mai Photographic Group, which should give you a pretty good idea of what he’ll be talking to us about. I don’t know about you, but I love to take pictures and welcome any advice I can get on how to to take better ones than I do.
Our other speaker is a familiar face, talking about an oft-mentioned subject, this time with some
exciting news and a surprise for everyone. If I say much more than that I’ll be stealing his thunder, so I’ll just leave you hanging. But trust me on this one…you won’t want to miss it.
The meeting begins with coffee, tea, and snacks at 9:45, followed by the meeting at 10:30. It’s at the Duangtawan Hotel, on the 3rd floor. If you park in the hotel car park and get a parking ticket (sometimes you do, sometimes you
don’t), just bring it to the meeting with you and get it stamped for free parking.
Join us for the best breakfast/brunch buffet in Thailand!

DATE: September 24, 2024
LOCATION: Bangkok Hospital Saraphi Clinic
TIME: 1:00pm to 6:00pm
COST: 650 baht per shot (plus 20 baht ticket fee) - no other charges
LAST DAY TO BUY TICKET(S): September 17 - no exceptions
Tickets absolutely must be purchased by September 17th. It’s the government thing again, there is record-keeping involved and they need time to process the paperwork and prepare the doses.
The event is open to CEC members and their families. If you know of someone outside your family that needs the shot you are welcome to include them as well, however the tickets MUST be purchased by a CEC member. Also, a separate ticket is required for each person receiving a shot. Also required for each person is a copy of their passport page, which must be sent to info@chiangmaiexpatsclub.com NO LATER than September 17th. It is not necessary to sign the copy of the passport, it will require your original signature so you will be asked to sign it when you get to the clinic.
There is plenty of parking available at the Saraphi Clinic for those who choose to drive.
If you prefer, Bangkok Hospital is offering free shuttle service to and from the clinic from the Duangtawan Hotel, but you must let us know by September 17 if you would like to use the service.
This is a really great opportunity, I hope as many people possible will take advantage of it. The price is extremely competitive, and there will be NO additional charges (doctor visit fees, nursing fees, etc.). Use the button below to
purchase your ticket(s), and don’t forget to send a copy of the passport photo for each person to info@chiangmaiexpatsclub.com by September 17th.
This survey was recently published and rapidly became the survey with the most responses in club history. That's great, and we thank you for it, but we need even more. It's critical to helping us with our future planning, so if you haven't taken it already please do it now.
It's only three questions and will take you one minute or less. What's more, to give you an incentive we will choose two lucky winners from all the respondents, who will receive a certificate redeemable for purchasing access to the End of Life videos (worth 1000 baht!!!). Or, if the winners already have access to the videos, they may choose to receive a free ticket to either a Saturday Breakfast at The Duke’s, or to a CEC
General Meeting. Remember, you can’t win if you don’t play, so please hit the button below and help us out.

Testimonial
The AITax Advisers were knowledgeable about the unique challenges and requirements for expats, and they helped me navigate the complexities of filing my taxes from abroad. They were also able to identify deductions and credits that I wasn't aware of, which ended up significantly reducing my tax bill.
Overall, the process was much smoother than I anticipated, and
I feel confident that my taxes were filed accurately and in compliance with all US tax laws. I will definitely be using this service again in the future and recommending it to other expats in my network.
